Améline Vallet

Ecological economist, PhD

My name is Améline Vallet. I am currently an assistant professor at AgroParisTech at ESE lab. I am working on landscape sustainability in the research team "Ecological TrajectorieS & Society" (TESS). I am also working at CIRED as a seconded scientist.

Prior to that, I worked as a PhD candidate at CIRED, CIFOR and CIRAD. I obtained my M.Eng. (2013) and Ph.D. (2018) in Environmental Sciences from AgroParisTech.

I use ecosystem services assessement, machine learning, GIS and spatial modeling, social networks as well as stakeholder analysis to address salient research questions in sustainability science, such as:

      • ES modeling and mapping

      • Social and ecological trade-offs

      • Power asymmetries

      • Equity and environmental justice

Since 2019, I am a member of the scientific advisory board of the French national ecosystem assessment (Evaluation française des écosystèmes et des services écosystémiques, EFESE). I am also lead author of IPBES on-going nexus assessment, focusing on the interlinkages among biodiversity, water, food and health.

As an Ingénieure des ponts, des eaux et des forêts, my research work is connected to decision-making and aims at providing tools for sustainable and equitable landscape management.

When I am not at the office, I like playing rugby, hiking or hanging out in Paris museums of modern art and photography.
